All you need to know to enjoy horse riding in Tenerife

Practical advice for horse riding in Tenerife:

  • Always wear a coat and a rain jacket. The island's microclimates mean that the temperature can vary rapidly, especially in the higher areas.
  • Check the weather forecasts before setting off, especially weather warnings or alerts. In the event of strong winds or rain, it is best not to drive on the tracks.
  • Do not drive through or off the network of authorised trails.
  • Use extreme caution on roads, especially in busy urban areas.
  • If you are travelling alone, always tell someone (either someone you know or at the hotel reception) and leave a phone number. This will make it easier to find you if you need to.
  • Wear a helmet, which is essential for safety.
  • Do not throw any object, waste or rubbish, especially cigarette butts, or liquid or solid waste at any point along the route.
  • Remember that the trails do not have lateral protection barriers, so there may be landslides and there are particularly difficult sections (narrow areas, steep slopes, ravines on the margins...). In these cases, extreme caution is necessary.
