Montaña de Los Frailes

Natural Monument

Montaña de los Frailes is one of the most significant scenic monuments in the Orotava valley. This small volcanic cone is in line with two other mountains which are believed to have emerged in the 13th century.

Their slopes were traditionally used to farm a variety of crops. On the hill top stands a chapel which we recommend you visit, particularly if you are there on 3 May when the Fiesta de la Cruz celebrations take place.

Municipality: Los Realejos

Expanse: 25.7 hectares (63,5 acres)

How to get there:

You can get to Los Frailes on the TF-5 motorway, turning off towards La Montañeta, La Orotava. At the junction, take the TF-333 up towards La Montañeta and you will reach this natural monument after about 1 km (0.62 miles).
