A miraculous procession

Among the various traditions you can experience in Rincón de la Luz are the festivities in honour ofCristo del Valle de Arriba, in Santiago del Teide. The celebrations have been taking place every May since 1909,during which the locals take a figure of Christ on a symbolic mission to keep the Chinyero volcano calm since it threatened to destroy the town when it last erupted over a century ago. It seems to be working so far!
