The Route of Castles
On the first Saturday of each month, Museos de Tenerife organises a guided tour of the castles of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. These magnificent edifices have been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and are protected by the Canary Islands' Law on Historical Heritage. The tour visits the San Juan Castle, the Casa de la Pólvora (Gunpowder House), the San Cristóbal Castle or the Paso Alto Castle. This is a unique opportunity to discover these buildings from the inside, as they are not usually open to the public.
If you are interested, make sure you get tickets in advance from the reception desk at the Tenerife History and Anthropology Museum (Casa Lercaro), which is located on Calle San Agustín in La Laguna. You can also pay for your tickets by bank transfer.
