La Hondura Cliff

This unusual setting has been formed by an accumulation of lava flows and tephra. The cliff stands 30 m (98 feet) high and spans 2,500 m (8,202 feet) long, dotted here and there with small bays and cliffs.

Amongst this location's many attractions is the so-called sea pineapple, a native species in Tenerife and the Canary Islands which is in serious danger of extinction. And there are other species of flora such as the sweet euphorbia, balos and sea lettuces.

Its fauna includes Scopoli's shearwaters and the plain swift. You might also glimpse the odd reptile.

How to get there:

You can access the cliff by taking the Las Eras exit. The road that joins Las Eras to the TF-1 motorway skirts around the perimeter of this protected nature area and there are a number of trails that branch off from the road into the area.
