Casa del Capitán Museum House

This building is over a hundred years old and belongs to the area of the historic quarter known as El Calvario. For decades, the house was used as the Alfonso family home, so it is a traditional Canarian style dwelling for a wealthy family, with an inner patio, a semi-basement with a wine cellar, a wine press and a granary. One of their descendants, who was born in the late 18th century, was the highest ranking military man of his time in the municipality, which is what led the house to be known as La Casa del Capitán (the Captain's House). After being struck by a fire in 1978, the building was revamped by the Town Council of San Miguel de Abona and turned into a museum.
